Eating Out Strategy

This morning I met a friend for brunch at HomeGrown in Wichita. It is based on the idea of community partners. I was very impressed with this new restaurant. The cinnamon French toast was delicious, and it came with fresh strawberries. The atmosphere was appealing with lots of natural light, the service was quick and polite, and the menu had lots of great options! I was amazed by all the fresh choices, and I wish more restaurants would take part in this movement. 

HomeGrown did have a lot of options, but I have a strategy that I use when I eat out that helps me make healthier choices and not spend as much money.  This morning is a perfect example. I worked out, and I knew breakfast would be later so I decided I had to have a snack before going. I decided to get online and look at HomeGrown’s menu to see what I thought looked good, so I could choose a snack that would balance my plate. I decided that I would probably get the French toast so I wanted a snack that had some protein. I chose some greek yogurt because it is so high in protein. This strategy reduces my bill at the restaurant. It holds my hunger off, so I do not feel the need to stuff myself when I get there. In addition, I get to eat a balanced meal with a healthy side option of my choice. I will say their fresh protein options were tempting, and I will probably try one next time!
